SUMMER CINEMA IN THE KASÁRNA COURTYARD IS BACK!
Pretty Woman
Garry Marshall — USA — 1990 — 117 minutes — English + Czech subtitles
Hollywood. Vivian walks the streets and dreams of a prince on a white horse. One evening, she randomly meets a handsome, lonely, and somewhat mysterious millionaire, Edward Lewis, who takes her to a luxurious hotel suite. He lets her sleep peacefully and in the morning makes her a surprising offer: he wants Vivian to accompany him in public for the entire week. Dressed in her “working” clothes, the girl stands out in the luxury hotel like a tarantula on a sponge cake, and even the money Edward generously gives her doesn’t help her complete her task — getting appropriate attire. At the last moment, the hotel’s fatherly manager comes to the crying girl’s aid. Gradually, the transformation from streetwalker to lady begins — a change noticed by everyone, except Edward. The week slowly comes to an end, and Vivian finds herself falling more and more in love. With the sudden luxury, yes, but mostly with her protector. She starts to believe she’s found her prince. But he’s not looking for a faithful, kind, and beautiful woman. He wants to keep Vivian as a mistress. A week ago, she might have agreed — but love has brought her pride, and Vivian walks away. Edward realizes his mistake. In a white Rolls-Royce, with a bouquet and an umbrella instead of a sword, he comes for his bride. Life in Hollywood goes on.
