Amélie lives in the Paris neigh­bor­hood of Mont­martre, a lit­tle world of its own. She works as a wait­ress in a local bistro, shops at the neigh­bor­hood greengrocer’s, and greets her neigh­bors as if she were in a small town. Noth­ing extra­or­di­nary has ever hap­pened in her life — except for her mother’s bizarre death, which her father still mourns. Amélie might have remained resigned to her qui­et, soli­tary exis­tence, had she not one day dis­cov­ered a hid­den trea­sure in her apart­ment: an old box filled with child­hood memen­tos of a for­mer ten­ant. Not only does she decide to track down and return the box to its own­er, but she also real­izes she has the pow­er to qui­et­ly improve the lives of those around her. Then one day, she spots a man who col­lects dis­card­ed pho­to booth por­traits left behind by strangers in train sta­tions — and Amélie falls in love. But it will take time before she final­ly meets Nino and allows him to unrav­el the clues she’s left in her mys­te­ri­ous messages.
