Coffee and Cigarettes
Jim Jarmusch — USA — 2003 — 96 min — English with Czech subtitles
Coffee and Cigarettes is a series of short films that come together to form a feature-length movie (or maybe the other way around). In each segment, a few characters sit around drinking coffee, smoking cigarettes, and talking about topics as varied as caffeinated popsicles, Abbott & Costello, the mysteries surrounding Elvis, the proper way to brew tea, Nikola Tesla’s inventions, a fictional rock band called SQÜRL, 1920s Paris, and the use of nicotine as an insecticide…
As for the cast, it’s an extremely eclectic group of exceptional actors and musicians, portraying an equally eclectic mix of quirky characters. (Official distributor’s text)
