Hello, All Saints' Day!

AFTER­NOON FOR CHIL­DREN AT KASÁR­NA KARLÍN

As autumn trees shed their leaves, they remind us that the cycle of life and death spares no one. All Souls’ Day is near! But it won’t be a day of sor­row – rather, a joy­ful remem­brance of those no longer with us.

At this mys­te­ri­ous gath­er­ing in the court­yard of Kasár­na, we’ll craft wreaths, read sto­ries by the fire, and roast marsh­mal­lows and sausages.

Part of the pro­gramme is inspired by the Mex­i­can Day of the Dead – a vibrant cel­e­bra­tion of life in hon­our of those who have passed. You can cre­ate colour­ful face masks and tra­di­tion­al piñatas, or have your face paint­ed in fes­tive designs.

We’ll end the day with a jour­ney to Amer­i­ca and the mag­i­cal world of The Night­mare Before Christ­mas by Tim Bur­ton. This film blends Hal­loween mys­tery with Christ­mas won­der and reminds us that each hol­i­day has its place in the turn­ing of the year.

The event takes place out­doors in our court­yard. Please dress warmly!

Cre­ate a mask even your own moth­er wouldn’t rec­og­nize you in — or dec­o­rate a minia­ture cof­fin as a unique All Souls’ Day keepsake.

– PIÑATAS WITH BARBO­RA FAS­TRO­VÁ (15:30 – 17:00)
Did you know tra­di­tion­al piñatas were shaped like sev­en-point­ed stars, sym­bol­iz­ing the sev­en dead­ly sins? Smash­ing them rep­re­sent­ed the tri­umph of good over evil. Come make your own!

– FIRE­SIDE STO­RY­TIME WITH MAR­TI­NA ŠPINKOVÁ (16:30 – 17:00)
Mar­ti­na Špinková, co-founder of the hos­pice orga­ni­za­tion Ces­ta domů, will read Lucky You, Cat—a sto­ry about an elder­ly uncle, a car­ing fam­i­ly, lit­tle chil­dren, mod­ern med­ical devices, and a black cat.

– SCOUT ADVEN­TURE TRAIL (16:00 – 18:00)
Join the scouts of Středisko Sfinx on an adven­ture trail! Bring friends, sib­lings, or par­ents along for the journey.

– WREATH-MAK­ING STA­TION 15:00 – 18:00)
Make a remem­brance wreath to place on a grave with your family.

– CLOTH­ING SWAP TABLE (15:00 – 18:00)
Bring warm clothes, win­ter shoes, or any­thing sea­son­al. Take what you need, leave what you don’t. Left­overs will be donat­ed to those in need.
