Summer cinema— Holy Cow + Hurricane
SUMMER CINEMA IN THE KASÁRNA COURTYARD IS BACK!
Holy Cow
Louise Courvoisier — France — 2024 — 90 minutes — French + CZ subtitles
The rural Jura region in France is famous for its dairy cows, agricultural festivals, and delicious Comté cheese. In this seemingly idyllic setting grows up Totone, a troubled teenager who spends most of his time hanging out with his group of friends. When his father dies, Totone is suddenly faced with the unexpected responsibility of taking care of the family farm and his younger sister. He’s forced to stand on his own two feet — and being Totone, he comes up with a creative shortcut: he decides to produce the finest Comté cheese. There’s just one small problem: he knows absolutely nothing about cheese-making. Holy Cow! is a well-matured debut, energized by brilliant non-professional actors and the kind of setting where the best lessons come from getting knocked down hard.
Hurricane
Jan Saska — Czech Republic/France/Slovakia/Bosnia and Herzegovina — 2024 — 13 minutes — Czech
Hurricane falls head over heels for Bára, who works at a beer stand. The beer quickly runs out, and Hurricane sets off to fetch a new keg. A simple mission — if only it weren’t taking place in Žižkov, a neighborhood with a permanent hangover just like Hurricane himself.
