Kasárna Karlín joins the celebrations of Struggle for Freedom and Democracy Day. On this public holiday, when the Czech Republic marks 37 years since the Velvet Revolution, we are showing two films back to back: Citizen Havel (2007) and I'm Not Everything I Want to Be (2024).
Libuše Jarcovjáková is a legend of world photography and an untamed woman who defied all conventions. Her life is a mosaic of fascinating encounters and wild stories, from the gritty underground of communist Czechoslovakia, through exclusive photo shoots for fashion’s elite in Tokyo, to a dramatic escape to West Berlin, where she witnessed the fall of the Iron Curtain. Drawn from thousands of analog photographs and pages of personal diaries, this formally unique documentary directed by Klára Tasovská delighted audiences at the Berlinale.
