Bad Karma Boy (album launch) + Island Mint
Kasárna Karlín is back, and on December 2nd Bad Karma Boy will be launching their new album Liminal there, with special guest Island Mint.
Liminal grew out of what was originally a very diverse body of material. The band therefore set itself a principle of “no rules, no limits, no concept” while also deciding to simplify the production compared to the past.
Bad Karma Boy also worked on three of the tracks at Andel Sound studio in Prague, in collaboration with Matyáš Adámek of Island Mint. “We wanted the album to be more minimalist than before. Not to put so much emphasis on production details, but rather on the whole and the feeling of the songs and the album,” says Marikovič.
On the new record, Bad Karma Boy have moved from melancholy toward more hope and freedom. The songs are more playful and varied, and at times veer into punk or jangle pop. “The previous record was more of a heartbreak album; this one is more hopeful and takes things, and life, with more perspective and calm. Our Western European, Bratislava-style life is already stressful enough, and often needlessly so,” adds the band’s frontman.
Liminal will be released on October 23, 2026, via Slnko Records.
